Unilin Technologies has strengthened its intellectual property portfolio with a new European patent for magnesium oxide (MgO) reinforced core boards, marking another advancement in sustainable flooring solutions.

The patent (EP 4 107 330 B1) covers the company’s hybrid core technology, which offers manufacturers a lightweight, PVC-free alternative for creating low-swell, wood-based flooring products. This protection extends beyond Europe, with similar patents secured in the United States and other global markets.

“This patent is the result of Unilin’s substantial R&D efforts into low-swell organic core solutions,” said Bart Van der Stockt, president of Unilin Technologies.

The company plans to highlight this technology at the upcoming BAU and TISE trade shows.

The patent adds to Unilin’s portfolio of over 3,800 patents across 500 families, including their widely recognized Uniclic, Unidrop, and Unipush click systems. Known for their licensing business model, Unilin Technologies continues to drive innovation in laminate and resilient flooring while providing technical support to industry partners.
