Belgian flooring technology company Unilin Technologies has developed a new production process for pressed bevels in SPC flooring, in collaboration with Chinese equipment manufacturer KONO.
The process, which builds on Unilin’s 2011 pressed bevel patents, aims to address industry challenges including bevel misalignment and high scrap rates in production. The company reports the new method maintains standard slab production and panel finishing while improving bevel alignment accuracy.
“This patented process combined with the specialized KONO equipment allows manufacturers to immediately implement a reliable and effective solution for producing deep and accurate pressed bevels,” said Floris Koopmans, dales & marketing firector at Unilin Technologies. “This process not only improves the precision of bevel alignment but also optimizes the overall appearance and depth of the bevel, all while maintaining the reliable locking performance that Unilin is known for.”
The technology will be available for licensing through Unilin Technologies’ patent portfolio. Financial terms and specific performance metrics were not disclosed.
