Home improvement retailer The Home Depot reported higher overall sales but declining comparable store performance in its third quarter as the company navigates challenging macroeconomic conditions while benefiting from hurricane-related demand.
The retailer’s total sales climbed 6.6% to $40.2 billion for the third quarter ended October 27, 2024. Comparable sales declined 1.3% overall and 1.2% in the U.S.
“While macroeconomic uncertainty remains, our third quarter performance exceeded our expectations,” said Ted Decker, chair, president and CEO. He noted improved seasonal goods engagement and hurricane-related sales helped drive results as weather patterns normalized.
Home Depot continues to expand its footprint, operating 2,345 retail stores and over 780 branches across North America, while employing more than 465,000 associates.
