The Floor Covering Education Foundation is opening new doors for military veterans through an expanded partnership with the Department of Defense’s SkillBridge program, offering specialized training in floor covering installation to service members transitioning to civilian life.
The partnership, announced in Dalton, Georgia, allows active duty personnel in their final months of service to participate in hands-on training through FCEF’s Basic Floor Covering Installation program at approved colleges.
“At FCEF, we understand the tremendous value that military personnel bring to our industry,” said Kaye Whitener, executive director of FCEF. “Our expanded SkillBridge partnership is designed to empower these individuals with the hands-on skills and industry-specific knowledge needed for immediate and long-term success in their new careers.”
The program aims to leverage veterans’ existing skills – including discipline, problem-solving, and leadership – while providing them with specialized technical training for the floor covering industry. Participants receive industry-relevant instruction from experts, preparing them for immediate employment upon completion.
“This partnership is a game changer for both our transitioning service members and the floor covering industry,” Whitener added. “We are proud to be part of a program that not only honors our military personnel but also invests in their future.”
The initiative addresses two critical needs: providing career pathways for veterans and meeting the floor covering industry’s demand for skilled workers. Through this program, FCEF gains early access to motivated, highly-trained professionals while helping veterans establish sustainable civilian careers.
