Enchanting cottage gates with cutout design details
I was looking through some photos for ideas for our new little backyard and stumbled upon a photo I took of this adorable gate (and home) our family found on a walk in Seattle years ago. That garden gate with the rose cutout is SO sweet, isn’t it?
I have always been smitten by cottage-style gates– they can be so enchanting! They give you the sense that something very special (like a secret garden!) must be on the other side, too.
My mom will have a gate on the side of our home that will lead to my parents’ new cottage entrance! I can’t wait! I loved having a window cutout in the gate of our last home. There was a home in a neighborhood we lived in when my girls were young that also had a window in a gate, and I just loved walking by and dreaming about what was on the other side. There are so many ways to add more charm to functional elements, even in the garden! I’m looking forward to working in our small backyard this summer to begin to turn it into a cottage garden.
