Last year I bought this metal whale with the intention of adding him to my decor in some way (in every season) in our new coastal home (where we live year round!). He wasn’t originally a whale wreath, but he is for winter and I think it suits him!
While I’m not usually into a lot of themed-decor, I do find so much more happiness in my home when we are surrounded by what brings joy because it is meaningful to us in some way. Often my love of the sea is reflected in subtle ways, through a mood that is created with our style, colors or textures. Other times it shines though our selected accessories , or the sea art we have collected for years.

I do not find joy in following the ever-changing decorating trends of the design world, rather, I find delight in creating a sanctuary that is meaningful to our family.
So when I saw this darling whale and it made me laugh, I knew he belonged here. A bit of whimsy in our decor speaks to my sense of humor and makes the mood our home feel like I want it to be, lighthearted and welcoming.

Somehow in the chaos of the move and just getting settled, I forgot about the whale … until a couple of weeks ago.
Now he’s here gracing a winter wreath with his charm, always welcoming us home with a smile and bringing happiness to everyone he greets!
Do you have fun with your decor?
This wreath has a “saw tooth” hanger on the back and I just tied this velvet ribbon around it to hang it on the cup hook on our door, along with the wreath. Easy peasy decor, but he brings so much happiness!
